4 April 2011 – A new client brought us to lunch in Puchong after a stormy second meeting. It was his way of being conciliatory I suppose.
Gao Ren Guan specializes in home-style cuisine, and it is popular enough to have a two other branches: one on Subang Jaya, the other in Palm Square, Jaya One.

We had egg foo yong (I’ve discussed this dish in length elsewhere, so you know how I feel about that), pork and snake beans stir-fried, fried rice, braised pork and yam (kow yok), shrimp, stuffed bitter gourd and a crispy fish.
All were pretty decent. I thought the bitter gourd a really nice dish – it is not often one is served whole, small bitter gourds, salted to get rid of the bitterness, and stuffed with pork and mui choy. They looked a little gray but that is to be expected, seeing the dish is steamed.
