6 March 2011 – My mum-in-law’s maid is quite a gem. She’s been with the family for five years and juggles taking care of my invalid father-in-law and my no-off-switch daughter with aplomb. She manages also to ensure the house is mopped every other day, and she finds time to try out new dishes.
She’s been missing the flavours back home and after phone consultations with her mother, she made this dish called pepes. It is a combination of glutinous rice on top of fish, wrapped in banana leaves and grilled.
We thought it would have been a lot more enjoyable sans the massive amounts of birds eye chilli she used, but it was a good try!
