Looks good, but lacks kick. |
A celebration of Malaysian cuisine, gastronomy and sometimes gluttony as seen from the perspective of an Editorial Director and oft-times Food Editor. There's so much to the food in Malaysia; so many tales behind what we eat, and so many stories for, from, and about the men and women who deliver these food experiences. I want to tell these stories.

Jatuh Standard
It's not looking to be a good year at KGNS! The Indian food stall just lost its roti canai maker. He had to go back to India because of an expired permit, and the owners of the stall are having great difficulty finding another experienced roti-maker. Hence, plain rotis are made at the main shop, and sent over to the club where they are reheated. No more fresh thosai and no more specially ordered roti telur with green chilies. Sad.
And to cap it off, Wednesday's dish of the day, which is usually a very commendable prawn noodle, has dropped in standard. Kit and I had it yesterday and we found it watered down. The freshness was still there, with the kangkong and the bean sprouts being crisp, and the soup pipping hot, but there was a distinct lack of kick in the soup which even a good sambal could not disguise. What's happening KGNS?
