Egg-citing

We used to enjoy the snow ice at the 100 Yen shop in Aman Suria. Since that outlet closed down, we've not had another, so I was pleased to see a rather geek chic-y snow ice counter at The Summit in USJ, Subang. What made it stand out at first from the other snow ice kiosk in front and at the side, was the touch-screen interactive menu. It was not as straightforward as I would have liked, with a lot of levels down, but it was okay to use with the guidance of the service staff.
Clean and cool kiosk.
The touch screen menu.
Once the order is placed, we head to the counter where the ice is shaven and watch as it is dressed up. The ice in pre-flavoured and shaped into rounds and is taken out and shaved when orders come up. The shaved snow is then dressed up with toppings and syrups.
Close shave in progress.
I ordered a safe choice of chocolate snow with cereal, which turned out pretty decent, with chocolate sauce and Nestum flakes for a bit of crunch.
The condensed milk on the top turned a little tacky in contact with the snow.
My egg-topped vanilla snow.
The other choice came with a raw egg on top! It was cracked open right after the final touches were made to the snow and carefully drizzled on top of the snow mountain. The correct way to eat it is to pile snow on top of the egg, freezing it into a brittle, chewy texture, which was really quite exciting for me. I may actually eat it again, but Kit did raise questions on the freshness of the eggs. Still, we gotta live a little, right?
