La Cremeria

Along with the Thrifty ice cream I picked up at Presto, I also purchased two tubs of La Cremeria ice cream. Over one litre each, La Cremeria is manufactured by Nestle. This is about the last real ice cream in the brand's range - having switched most of their products to ice confection. The two La Cremeria flavours I got were Chocolate Obsession and Strawberry Dream.
Chocolate Obsession had a bit of palm oil possession.

Chocolate Obsession was chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce and chocolate chips. It was surprisingly good, with a smooth, creamy texture. The chocolate ribbon was fudgey and rich, which again was a bit of a surprise. However, the chocolate chips let the game down, being so hard to melt. They were the final things left in the mouth after a mouthful, and they would only go down the gullet after being chewed and swallowed. No divine melting here. I bet that is due to the palm oil in the chocolate. Yuck!
Sweet dreams are not made of this.
Strawberry Dream had less redeeming qualities, with the flavour being very synthetic. The pieces of strawberry were hard and unpalatable, and the strawberry ice cream overpowered the vanilla, making it a sickly tasting combination.

I guess if budget is a constraint, this brand is still the best of the lot, but stay away from the fruit flavours. The La Cremeria range have got quite a few chocolate-nut pairings, and one vanilla-cashew, so consider those when paying RM16.90 a tub.
