Jammed Up

One of the best perks with a child in a Waldorf (no relation to the salad) school is that kids bring back more than wonkily made pen holders or cards which parents feel religiously committed to display or hang on the fridge. Indeed, in a school like Erin’s Hilltop House, I get a little bread treat every Thursday, made by my artisan three-year-old baker, with only organic ingredients.
A true labour of love - jam from mangoes from the tree in my child's playschool.

Recently, because there was a windfall of mangoes from the four-storey tree in the playschool yard, Erin brought home a jar of lovely organic mango and passionfruit jam. The mangoes were gathered by the kids and teachers of Hilltop House, and teachers Ching and Faridah made the delicious jam which they packed in pretty little jars. Each jar has a tag (though you don’t see it in the picture), which the children decorated, with the child’s name and the type of jam.

I still have some left if anyone wants a taste. It’s lovely with a waffle or on toast!
